Warnervale Uniting Church Project

The project for Warnervale Uniting Church has now reached completion and will be installed ready for the official opening of the church on Saturday 3rd June. The three pieces manufactured for the project a communion table, christening font and lectern are stunning and a credit to the skill and craftsmanship of our Sheddie Chris.

Terrigal Mens Shed is fortunate to have a multitude of skills within its ranks so when a request came in to make a communion table for the new Uniting Church at Warnervale the challenge was taken up with enthusiasm. The specification was agreed on with the client and the timber to be used was to be Australian cedar.

Chris and Roy Henry travelled up to the Newcastle area to where we were given access to some well seasoned rough sawn cedar, now that the raw material had been obtained it was on with the job.

Chris took on the job and has so far been assisted by Milton Elliot, Reg Bird, Keith Gower and Tony Collits. The design plan for the table was drawn out onto a large area of plywood, this is known as a “rod”, which allows a full size view of the component parts of the table. It accurately shows the cross sections, lengths, widths and thickness of the finished work.

The photographs show stages of the manufacture and we will follow with more as the job progresses.
